WHY THIS MATTERS IN

Your commissioner should know your streets, your schools,
your parks, and your flooding problems personally.

People want a commissioner who knows the neighborhood—which street floods, which park needs help, where traffic backs up, and what families deal with every day. When districts are smaller, that kind of personal, practical representation becomes possible. Government stays close to the people it serves.

“Government should
stay close to the people.”

THE PROPOSAL

What is Stronger Miami?

A proposed update to the City of Miami charter that aims to give neighborhoods stronger,
fairer representation in city government. It rests on three changes.

Smaller Districts

01

More neighborhood representation across the city. Each commissioner would represent a smaller, more coherent district so communities stay intact, with fewer residents to serve and more attention for each neighborhood.

Even-Year Elections

02

Although Miami voters approved even-year elections, the change will not begin until 2034 and 2036. The Stronger Miami petition would move it forward.

Fair Representation

03

District boundaries that better reflect Miami's communities. Clear, fair standards for how district lines are drawn so boundaries follow real neighborhoods rather than political convenience.
